Brain Drain (2019)

'Brain Drain', 2019, yoghurt, cloth, clay plate and pump.
A hanging cloth contains buttermilk that gets filtered through the fabric. The water falling from it gets pumped back to the top to prevent the yoghurt from becoming cheese.

I assembled this piece two times. The first time, the pump had to be turned off at night for security reasons and the second time the tubes got clogged making the yoghurt grow a culture of bacteria and slight smell.

I now also title this piece 'failed attempts to not let a culture settle'.
